My favorite subject

The subject that I've enjoyed studying the most this semester is "Epistemology of the social sciences", and I have a couple of reasons to explain why.  First of all, the teaching team really put some incredible efforts during the semester. They do synchronous classes twice a month, and the teacher complements the lessons with a lot of short videos that are very easy to understand, and I really appreciate that. Besides, the teaching assistants are really kind and they got no problem to answer all of our questions. During the first part of the synchronous classes, we do questions related to the short videos or texts to the teacher and she clarifies our doubts. And during the second part of the class, we split on teams to talk about some themes that the teaching team prepared specially for the class. We've seen falsificationism, inductionism, logical positivism, and many others themes that have a lot to say about how we see and understand science. So, I really like this ...

the psychology related website I use the most

Well, to be honest, I use www.revistapsicologia.uchile.cl for academic purposes only. In this website you can found original articles and research results related to Psychology, written by psychologists and professionals of the Universidad de Chile. This website is known for its formal character, so, it's quite simple in terms of features and sections. It features a seeker, lots of articles and past editions of the journal. It also lets you browse looking for authors or numbers, depending on how you need (or want) to research. Besides, you can see it in english, spanish or even portuguese.  Like I said before, I only use it for academic purposes so I dare to say that I use this website three to five times a month. Well, it depends on how many assignments my teachers give me. It's not like that I find this website fun or not. It's obviously a matter of usefulness rather than entertainment. With that being said, I like this website because of its simplicity and pragmatism. It...

Foo Fighters in Chile

Imagen
In this photograph taken by the Rocknvivo's photographer Javier Valenzuela, appears Dave Grohl, the leader of the Foo Fighters when they played in Chile at the Pista Atlética in the summer of 2015. I like this photo in particular not only because Foo Fighters is my favorite band of all time nor Dave Grohl is probably the only artist I really admire, but also because I went to that concert and I got a really nice position in the front row. So yeah, this picture makes me feel nostalgic and happy. It was one of the best nights of my life. Besides, I really like how this photo was taken, 'cause it shows clearly the sky. There's some magic in the perspective of it. I can clearly remember every moment of that night, specially when the band came out of nowhere in the runway at the middle of the show, playing some classics.

My laptop

I must that even if use my phone a lot, it's my laptop my favorite piece of technology. To be specific, I used to have a Acer laptop but my dad wanted to change his MacBook Air that my mom gave him because he didn't know how to use it. So I accepted it! hehe I use it for many different things. For studying, writing essays and stuff, and specially for listening to music. Not only because it's my passion and I'm all for it, but also because I'm kind of a music reviewer in a page I have with some friends. So it's a job for me. So, I really spend a lot of time in front of my computer. In fact, I spend about 3 to 4 hours studying on a regular day and 4 to 6 hours just listening to music, researching about, etc. I really like my laptop not only because it's useful and most of the time i'm having fun with it but also because it's really light so when I'm bringing it in my bag, my back doesn't hurt at all haha.  So i dare to say that my life would ...

Why did I choose Psychology?

As you could read in my last post, I wanted to be a lot of things: an engineer, a historian, a lawyer and I must admit that I wanted to be a famous musician too. After all, I ended up studying Psichology. So, you're probably asking, why? Well, it's kind of funny because I never intended to study this career when I was in high school. To be honest, it wasn't until I was studying Law when I realized it. When I was there, I noticed that a lot of people and friends went through really hard moments. Many of them were diagnosed with depression and other types of mental-health conditions. The more I knew, the more I got worried and interested about it. So I just wanted to be useful for people like them. That's why I want to be a psychologist.

A little bit of me

Well, my name is Juan Pablo Ossandón but my friends call me Jota. I don't like formalities very much so if you see me, just call me Jota! I'm twenty-five years old. I was born in Santiago, specifically in Quinta Normal but I lived all my life in Renca. Although, when i was 10 years old, I moved with my family to La Serena where we lived for almost a year. We came back to Santiago because we got bored living there. It was just too quiet for us. I studied at the Colegio San Joaquín de Renca where I graduated in 2013. Here is the confusing part because, when I was a kid i dreamt and wished so hard to be an engineer but when I did a summer school in 2012 I realized that career wasn't for me. So, I changed my mind and I tried to study History but my parents didn't let me do it. Finally, I studied Law at the Universidad de Chile from 2014 to 2017. I dropped out in the middle of the seventh semester 'cause I was just too unhappy and I didn't want to waste more time of ...
